Ashkan Tai
Director
Ashkan Tai (“Ash”) is a solicitor in the State of Queensland and is entered in the Register of Practitioners of the High court of Australia.

Ash completed a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Bond University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. In 2015, Ash completed his Barristers Practice Course which is a testament to his advocacy and court skills.
​
Since 2020 and for three consecutive years, Ash has received recognition as recommended criminal law practitioner in Queensland, by Doyle’s Guide.
​
Ash is passionate in defending persons who are under investigation for, or charged with, criminal and quasi-criminal offences and has extensive experience in criminal and Quasi- criminal matters including coronial inquest, investigatory hearings, proceeds of crime, parole and bail applications. .
​
Ash is a strong advocate for his clients and appears on a daily basis before the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts of Queensland and New South Wales. ​
​
Ash is at his best when he can use his unique language skills and cultural knowledge to assist in navigating his clients though the criminal justice system to achieve a just and fair result.

Ash is a sports fanatic with a passion for martial arts.
Oya Girgin
Senior Associate
Oya graduated from Bond University with a Bachelor of Laws in 2010.
​
Upon her admission, Oya completed her barristers Course at Queensland University of Technology. In 2011, she commenced practicing as a Barrister initially in Queensland and then in Victoria.
​
During her time as a barrister, Oya successfully ran trials and hearings in all Jurisdictions, including but not limited to complex parenting and property matters.
​
Oya’s legal experience and knowledge also extends to criminal law.
​
After four successful years at the private bar, Oya relocated to the Gold Coast where she practiced as a Senior Associate.
​
Oya prides herself for her strong advocacy and negotiations skills. Oya’s main focus and priority is to obtain the best outcome for her clients and to settle matters amicably without the Courts intervention.
​
Oya shares a passion for sports in particular AFL and Soccer. She served as judicial member of Football Federation of Victoria and Chaired as a judicial member at Football Queensland. Her role was to judicate disciplinary matters by allowing a fair hearing for all parties before the board.

Danielle Egan
Solicitor
Danielle graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of International Relations and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2022. Being born and raised in Melbourne, Danielle has since moved to the Gold Coast where she commenced work at Ashkan Tai Lawyers as a Law Clerk in 2021. She appears daily before the Magistrates Court, District Court and Supreme Court on a range of matters.
Since joining the firm she has been closely mentored by Ashkan in a range of complex Criminal Law matters. These include sentence proceedings, trials, bail applications, committal hearings, domestic and family violence proceedings and traffic matters. Danielle regularly instructs on District and Supreme Court sentences and trials with our trusted and preferred Barristers.
Danielle particularly enjoys appearing in Court and is a keen and confident advocate for her clients. Her dedication and compassion for all of her clients ensures she is striving for the best outcomes. Danielle has never backed down from a challenge and her approachable manner ensures you’ll feel in safe hands throughout all the stages of your matter.
Joanna McNae
Solicitor
Joanna is a trusted solicitor at Ashkan Tai Lawyers, who provides support to our team of solicitors and assists our clients throughout their legal proceedings. Throughout her Bachelor of Laws with Honours studies, Joanna has volunteered at community legal centres, which shows her dedication to helping others and her passion for community development.
Joanna has a keen interest in criminal law and continues to develop her theoretical and practical knowledge by working alongside our team and liaising with other industry professionals. Joanna appears regularly in Magistrates, District, and Supreme Courts, which has given her a thorough understanding of the criminal law process.
